The gaming laptop is a special thing. A device packing desktop-level gaming performance into a machine that’s a fraction of the size. Of course, this does come with some compromises, including the cooling necessary to maintain high frame rates in the latest games—in short, they can be real loud—but the main thing is they’re often so much more expensive than an equivalent desktop gaming PC. Which is why we’re here to deliver you the best gaming laptop deals to help save a buck or three.

At this point in the life-cycle of today’s tech, you don’t want to be looking backwards at the key component of a gaming laptop: the GPU. There’s no point picking out a budget RTX 3060-based notebook when an RTX 4050 or RTX 4060 machine will likely be around the same price. Where youcanlook back, however, is on the CPU side. Don’t be afraid of a last-gen AMD or Intel mobile chip if it’s paired with a modern GPU; it will still deliver the frame rates you crave.

Below, we’ve curated a selection of the best budget-friendly gaming laptop deals we’ve spotted online. Remember that this list isn’t exhaustive, but these are the gaming laptop deals we believe are worth your money. And check back regularly because thebest gaming laptopstend to fly off the shelves when they go on sale. And if you’ve decided you’re more into getting yourself a desktop bargain, we’ve compiled a list of thebest cheap gaming PC deals, too.

Quick links

Best budget

The RTX 4060 delivers genuinely impressive 1080p gaming performance to the sub-$1,000 laptop market and frame rates that would have been thoroughly mid-range one generation ago. You’re also getting DLSS 3 and Frame Gen in the bargain.

Best mid-range

With the same level of gaming performance as the mobile RTX 3080 of the previous generation, the RTX 4070 really delivers a frame rate experience that belies its current pricing in the gaming laptop world. These PCs are seriously affordable now.

Best overall

With a great balance between power efficiency and outright gaming performance, the RTX 4080 is the best overall GPU to go into your laptop. It’s up at the top end of gaming laptoppery, but it delivers the best all-round experience.

Price change:➖Steam Deck (LCD) | 512 GB SSD |$449 at SteamOkay, the Steam Deck may have hadan OLED refreshbut the original version is still the archetype of what a mobile PC gaming device should be. It’s just as powerful as the most recent model so all those Steam Deck compatible games should run well. It’s the OG PC gaming handheld, and it still demands respect.

Price change:🔽HP Victus 15 | RTX 4050 | Ryzen 5 8645HS | 15.6-inch | 1080p | 144 Hz | 8 GB DDR5 | 512 GB SSD |$979$649.70 at WalmartLet’s be upfront about this—8 GB of RAM is not enough in 2024. But when you’re talking about a gaming notebook that costs just $650, but with a decent RTX 40-series GPU inside it, I can swallow it. Especially when you can easily upgrade the RAM with just a wee screwdriver in-hand. And 16 GB of fast dual-channel DDR5 is just $50-odd right now. The RTX 4050 is just a 75 W variant, so not the outright fastest, but will still definitely do the job at 1080p, and for this money, that’s all you can ask.

Price change:🔽Dell G15 | RTX 4060 | Ryzen 7 7840HS | 15.6-inch | 1080p | 165 Hz | 16 GB DDR5 4800| 512 GB SSD |$1,099.99$799.99 at Dell (save $300)This is the cheapest we’ve seen a proper RTX 4060 laptop for a while, with an all round selection of components that makes a lot of sense. It’s a shame about the 512 GB SSD, but you can always stick a bigger one in it from ourcheap SSD dealspage.

Price change:🔼MSI Katana 15 | RTX 4070 | Intel Core i7-13620H | 16-inch | 144 Hz | 1200p | 1 TB SSD | 16 GB DDR5 |$1,149.99 at AmazonYou’re only getting a 1080p screen here, which is a bit of a shame as the rest of the components are all rather excellent. Still, that RTX 4070 will have no problem pushing that 144 Hz panel to its limits in many games at that res, plus the 10 core (six P-core, four Efficient) CPU has some decent DDR5 to play with. It’s not perfect, but for this money it’s an excellent deal.

Price check:Newegg $1,299

Price change: NEW DEAL!!!Lenovo Legion 5 Slim | RTX 4070 | Ryzen 7 7735HS | 16-inch | 165 Hz | 1600p | 1 TB SSD | 16 GB DDR5 |$1,349.99$1,187.99 at Newegg (save $162)Slim, portable, powerful and with a great screen, for a great price. That’s a very difficult combo to find, but this Lenovo Legion 5 fits the bill perfectly. You get a speedy Ryzen 7 processor, a proper 16-inch 1600p screen capable of a decent turn of speed, and that all-important 140 W RTX 4070 for serious gaming firepower.

Price check:Best Buy $1,349.99

Price change: NEW DEAL!Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 | RTX 4070 | Intel Core i9-14900HX | 16-inch | 240 Hz | 1600p | 1 TB SSD | 16 GB DDR5 |$1,699.99$1,449.99 at Best Buy (save $250)Acer’s Helios line of laptops goes up to some mighty (and mighty pricey) configs, but this one is a bit more affordable. You get that super-fast 240 Hz screen, a proper RTX 4070, and one of Intel’s top mobile chips, the Core i9 14900HX. It’ll likely run pretty toasty with that beefy Intel chip in the mix, but power-wise it’s a pretty mean gaming machine.

Price change:➖Gigabyte Aorus | RTX 4070 | Core i7 13650HX | 16-inch | 1600p | 165 Hz | 32 GB DDR5-4800 | 1 TB SSD |$1,699.99$1,549.99 at Best Buy (save $150)This Gigabyte has a nicely balanced set of components, what with a mobile Core i7 with six Performance cores and eight Efficient matched with a 140 W RTX 4070 handling the graphics. 32 GB of DDR5 memory is good to see at this price as well, although admittedly it’s not the fastest. Still, a well-weighted laptop for the money.

Price change:🔼Gigabyte Aorus 17H | RTX 4070 | Core i7 13700H | 17.3-inch | 1440p | 240 Hz | 16 GB DDR5-4800 | 1 TB SSD |$1,749$1,555.98 at Amazon (save $193.02)This is a big laptop that, for once, hasn’t been packed with the most power-hungry and heat producing components, which is refreshing. That Core i7 is easier to keep cool than an i9 and it’s a more suitable match for the 140W RTX 4070 alongside, which should have no problem pushing 1440p res gaming to that screen. Speaking of which, that 240 Hz panel is very speedy indeed, especially for this price.

Price change:🔽Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 | RTX 4070 | Core Ultra 185H | 16-inch | 1600p | 240 Hz | 16 GB DDR5-6400 | 1 TB SSD |$1,999.99$1,599.99 at Best Buy (save $400)This little laptop is one we absolutely fell in love with inour review, with one caveat—our model had a much too powerful GPU that it couldn’t make use of. This RTX 4070 model, on the other hand, should be perfectly balanced. Here you get a stunning OLED display, a slim and svelte form factor, and all the right specs. Simply a brilliant laptop, and one we were loathed to give back.

Price change:🔽Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 | RTX 4070 | Ryzen 9 8945HS | 14-inch | 1800p | 120 Hz | 32 GB DDR5-6400 | 1 TB SSD |$1,999.99$1,749.99 at Best Buy (save $300)Well, look what we have here. Not only does this 14-inch super portable laptop have an RTX 4070, but an eight core 16 thread AMD processor, 32 GB of very fast DDR5 and an OLED screen. That’s a huge amount of hardware in a very light, very sleek package. We gave the Zephyrus G14 a 90 inour review, and believe us, that doesn’t happen often.

Price change:➖Lenovo Legion Pro 7 | RTX 4080 | Core i9 14900HX | 16-inch | 1600p | 240 Hz | 32 GB DDR5-5600 | 1 TB SSD |$2,799$2,099 at B&H Photo (save $700)Lenovo make some brilliant gaming laptops, and this Legion Pro 7 is no exception. Featuring the mighty RTX 4080 in combination with Intel’s top spec Core i9 mobile CPU, this high-end model should have no trouble tearing through any game you can throw at it. The screen is plenty speedy too with a 240 Hz refresh rate, and 32 GB of fast DDR5 is not to be sniffed at.

Price change:🔽Gigabyte G5 | RTX 4060 | Core i5 13500H | 15.6-inch | 1080p | 144 Hz | 16 GB DDR5-4800 | 512 GB SSD |£849.99£749 at Amazon (save £100.99)We’re big fans of this little budget gaming laptop, and our Jacob loved its great gaming performance (check out our review). With some genuine 1080p gaming chops on offer for a substantially lower price than we’ve seen previously, this makes for a tidy little gaming laptop for not much cash at all.

Price change: NEW DEAL!!!Gigabyte Aorus 7 | RTX 4060 | Core i5 12500H | 17.3-inch | 1080p | 360 Hz | 16 GB DDR5-3200 | 512 GB SSD |£999.99£899.99 at Overclockers UK (save £100)A slightly odd set of components here, but if you’re looking for a large screen laptop with decent gaming performance at a budget price point, this is a darn good shout. That large screen might be only 1080p, but it’s super speedy, and it’s well matched with an RTX 4060 and a 12th gen (but still performant) Intel mobile chip.

Price change:➖MSI Katana 15 | RTX 4070 | Core i7 13620H | 15.6-inch | 1080p | 144 Hz | 16 GB DDR5 | 1 TB SSD |$1,399£1,099.99 at Overclockers (save £300)With a substantial ten-core 16-thread Intel CPU sitting at its heart, this Katana certainly has some processing grunt. The RTX 4070 here is only the 105 W TGP version, but that should still have no problem pushing pixels to that 1080p screen. It might not be a top-spec machine, but it’s very difficult to argue with the performance here at this price.

Price check: NEW DEAL!!!Acer Predator Triton Neo | RTX 4070 | Core Ultra 9 185H | 16-inch | 2000p | 165 Hz | 32 GB DDR5 | 1 TB SSD |£1,599 at AmazonThis might not technically be on discount, but it’s still a lot of laptop for the cash. Here you get a 2000p speedy panel in combination with an efficient yet very gaming capable CPU, paired with 32 GB of RAM and a decent 1 TB SSD. It’s not the prettiest machine, but it’s a very portable, very powerful gaming powerhouse in a slim chassis.

Price change:➖MSI Vector 17  | RTX 4080 | Core i9-13980HX | 17-inch | 1200p | 165 Hz | 16 GB DDR5 | 1 TB SSD |£2,049£1,699 at Amazon (save £350)When it comes to the hardware running under the bonnet, this 17-inch MSI Vector certainly has the goods, what with that Intel Core i9 processor and an RTX 4080 making a very tempting package indeed. Bit of a shame about the 1200p display and 16GB of RAM, but at least the screen’s a good ‘un with a 144Hz refresh rate and nice and bright panel. There’s a huge amount of performance here, making this machine a sizeable chunk of power for just under £1,700.
